Review:

When love came calling by Preeti Shenoy published by Srishti Publishers is a sweet lil story of Arush and Puja. Arush, an Artist who was traveling India for the first time was excited to work at a rural camp. On the other hand, Puja who was confused about what she should do on vacation was forcefully enrolled in this camp by her mother. What happens when these opposites meet? Will Puja complete the camp? Well, it has all the answers we seek.

With an interesting plot filled with twists, it’s an honest story that will make you smile. Yes, I liked how the author explored the relationships. The way she described sister bond to an ambitious mother, from friendship to relationships. I liked the blend of all the emotions. Be it Family expectations from different families to handling the situations, the author described it all in an intriguing way.

It has various aspects which we all must have been through, it’s not just about Love between two people, it’s about Family love too. With crisp and gripping narration and engaging writing style, it’s a journey filled with drama, love and hope. The backdrop of Kerala is beautifully described by the author.

The well-developed characters make this book more fascinating. Each character had their own personality, have their own effect on the readers. Narrated from different perspectives of different characters it’s a light, fast-paced read for all the teenagers.

About the Book:

Puja – 19, confused, energetic, fiery. Her philosophy – Life is complicated and only super achievers have it figured out. Her strict mother sends her to a rural location in Kerala to spend her summer vacation doing volunteer work.

Arush – 20, studious, careful, shy. Born and raised in Britain, he is elated when he gets an opportunity to spend 12 weeks in India, a place his parents are from and one he has never been to.

When Puja and Arush meet, their stark differences are obvious to each other. But with choppy internet and no other distractions, they start getting to know each other and slowly fall in love. But falling in love and staying in love are not the same thing.

When disaster strikes, Puja is forced to confront the harsh realities of life while Arush realises that India is not always the picture-perfect postcard he presumed it was. Desperately fighting to expose the truth and save themselves, what happens to their love? Is it strong enough to survive forces beyond their control? Is it deep enough to drown their own doubts?
