Review:
“There is no right or wrong, win or lose in the battle of ethics.”
I recently found myself in the mood for an intriguing murder mystery and came across Sharada Kolluru’s novel, 3 x 3 x 3. It’s a well-crafted murder mystery that delivers suspense and excitement.
3 x 3 x 3 by Sharada Kolluru is a fast-paced read, rich with drama, entertainment, and unexpected twists, resembling a complete Bollywood story. With a captivating plot and a concise, descriptive narrative, Sharada weaves an incredible tale. The story follows Surya, who discovers his brother dead and embroiled in drugs, a situation he is certain his brother did not cause. A significant game is at play, and Surya is determined to clear his brother’s name. To unravel the mystery, he seeks the help of DCP Vasudev Manikonda. How will they solve the case? Who is innocent, and who is the criminal? Will Surya manage to prove Peddanna’s innocence? Will Vasudev be able to extract a confession from the killer of Surya’s brother?
The plot is intricate and exhilarating, with each character involved in illegal activities as DCP works to piece together the puzzle. From the very beginning, Sharada sets the perfect tone for the story which is both curious and exciting as the mystery becomes more complicated with each chapter. The unfolding mystery keeps readers engaged, even as the narrative shifts between past and present to provide backstory on various characters and situations. While this approach sometimes disrupts the flow, it ultimately enhances the reader’s understanding.

Sharada’s writing style is captivating and compelling, effectively keeping readers hooked throughout. Each character is intriguing and well-developed with complex motivations, adding depth to the narrative, and ensuring readers stay on their toes as the mystery unfolds. Sharada pays meticulous attention to detail, revealing the dark pasts, crimes, and mysteries of each character skillfully. Though the large cast can initially feel overwhelming, the story gains momentum and clarity after a few chapters.
The combination of action and thrill blends with emotional depth, making it even more enjoyable while adding layers to the plot. In addition to crime, action, and fighting, the story explores themes of love, friendship, and family relationships. The bonds shared among the characters and the situations they face are beautifully described. Among the chaos, I particularly enjoyed the relationship between Akshata and Vasudev. The bond they share amid the drama provides a heartwarming contrast to the unfolding mystery.
This book has many layers, and Sharada brilliantly unveils each one. The final chapters are unputdownable, and I loved the climax—it’s just perfect. With a smooth-paced narrative, an engaging storyline, and exciting twists, 3 x 3 x 3 is an enjoyable murder mystery that captures the essence of Bollywood.
