•They said
It’s not okay,
Ever,
To be not okay.
A little while,
I mean,
Has never done,
Any harm.•

A cup of tea and a good poetry book is all I need on a sick day. I felt better after reading this beautiful book.

Some days we just want to talk, everything we have on our mind while some days we want to listen, listen to all the stories, and thoughts. Some books express what’s on our mind while some books say what we want to listen to. And this is one such book, expressing all my thoughts.

Anurag Bhattacharya’s (@_dye_it_blue_ ) Drumbeats in my empty soul is a collection of 35 poems that will take you down the memory lane, where you will witness some unanswered questions, unsaid concessions, unapologetic opinions and the moments of heaviness that we survived.

The feeling of unfulfilled love, loss of loved one’s, leaving the city which gave many memories, the days when we tried to survive. The author with his words dwells the readers into the world of emotions and survival.

With each poetry, we witness a surreal emotion that hits the right chord. Each poem has a story to tell, an emotion to witness. The poems are raw and honest supported by beautiful illustrations that will make you feel lost for a while.

What I loved most about the book is the way the author seizes the moments from cities like Calcutta and Bombay and beautifully express them in form of poems.

The writing style of the author is crisp and gripping. There’s depth in his words. The way he describes the emotions, the thoughts we all go through in a particular situation is commendable. One could relate to each of the poems.

My favourite poems are Word!, Is it okay, to be not okay? , drum beats in my empty soul, and I wish I did what I wished to do.

Reading this book has its own experience. It will leave you will a feeling of heaviness. It’s a book that will make you feel happy, thinking I survived, a book that will make you feel sad for the situations we have witnessed.

With a blend of themes like love, happiness, loss, betrayal it’s a brilliant book that you must read. Kudos to the author for brilliantly portraying the emotions.
