I have always loved reading Saurav Dutt’s books. His books are intense and powerful, making readers face the real world.

I finished reading one of his books today and it’s eye-opening! Land of mine is the story of Sukhcharan Singh who owns a land in a village and is sceptical about joining the protest his fellow farmers are doing against the government.

Will Sukhcharan join the protest along with his only real friend Sarbat, and his wife Labh? What happens when he goes to the border? What will be the government’s next action for the protest? Will their demands be fulfilled?

Well, Saurav Dutt and Satwant Singh Johal weave an intriguing tale of the struggles farmers faces, they show readers the reality, of what happens in such protests that will give you goosebumps. The story starts well with Sukhcharan discussing with his friend about the protest and whether they should join them or not.

It’s a story with an intense, brilliant storyline and a great plot. The gets more interesting with every chapter introducing readers to the new characters and sharing about how the lives of common people are affected.

While they discuss about the politics happening during protests, they also discuss about how the lives of farmers were affected, they faced losses and took their own lives. They discuss about the contribution of Women farmers, and how they are overlooked and considered weak.

The characters are well-developed by the authors. Each character leaves a mark on the reader’s mind. Be it Labh’s struggles for considering the contribution of female farmers to Sarat’s struggles, one could relate to it all.

Sukhcharan’s efforts to get what they deserve and Dodia’s actions to stand for what’s right , I loved reading about them, especially Dodia’s part.

The writing style of the author is intriguing and to the point. There’s lots of drama and politics here that readers are going to enjoy. It’s a smooth-paced story and a bit heavy read that will make you think about our actions, about the situations of farmers.

The crisp descriptive narrative and engaging journey of each character set this story apart. It also tells about how Media played an important role during the protest. I enjoyed reading the last few chapters where the story takes a big turn. Be it Labh’s courage to stand for Female Farmers or Sukhcharan’s stand for what is right.

It’s an interesting read that you will enjoy. An eye-opening book!
