Review:
I wanted to read something spicy, fun and refreshing and this book is indeed the one. Right from the bright, impressive cover with Mumbai Skyline and Sealink, Swati Hegde weaves a story of love, friendship, family and happiness. Swati Hegde’s Match Me if You Can is a story of Jia- a writer, blogger and millennial matchmaker who dreams of starting her startup working with the best magazine and dreams of her matchmaking column there. Then we have Jaiman a local pub owner and Jia’s best friend since childhood. While Jaiman has a spark for her, Jia, to own her column at work risks friendship and relationships. Will she be able to find love for herself while she works for others? Will Jaiman confess his love?
With a gripping storyline and crisp descriptive narrative, Swati Hegde takes readers on an emotional rollercoaster ride where witness how love may be a lot more complicated, how love can be above all the thoughts and how love can be a reason to stay. The plot of the story is exciting, filled with drama and unexpected twists. We see office politics, jealousy, long-hidden feelings, female friendships and family fun. Loved the way the story unfolds with each chapter adding spice and an element of curiosity for the readers.
Swati’s writing style is enchanting, making readers feel each character’s emotions. I started loving Jia at the beginning and ended up falling in love with Jaiman. His determined and emotional persona made me fall for him. The way he feels protective of Jia had my heart. Another person who added tang to the story is Harish Chandan. I loved his personality here. It’s a smooth-paced, entertaining story that takes us closer to love and confession. The dynamics change, and the decisions each of them makes are exhilarating, giving some Bollywood feels. Jia’s realization of her love, Jaiman’s feelings, and the chaotic and loud life with the Deshpandes are fun to read. It’s a light, delightful read that will bring a smile to your face as you read about the chaotic love life of the millennials.
