A Dismantle approach of likes, retweets and forwards by Bhavya Jain gives us certain insights which will help the reader, and the users, to understand if the source of information is actually reliable or not. She tells about the controversies that happened on social media and how we are unaware of the actual facts and believe what is being forwarded. Her questions, her approach is so interesting and the way she puts forward her point and the examples are commendable. I loved the amount of research she did and the details she added on each of the situations.
She tells about the social media trends to the basic concept of hashtags to how people started creating more content over social media. She tells about how these platforms are tarnishing our conscious mind to some extent and the fear of missing out has made Millenials a ‘FOMO’ generation. Social media sometimes do gives us anxiety but also inspires us in many ways, and gave us that confidence too.
I have seen many content creators growing on social media and how their life has changed. There are both pros and cons of social media and it’s up to us how much we let it affect us. Here too, in this book, there are certain opinions that I don’t agree with.
I liked how she tries to make it simple and easy to understand for the readers, especially the examples. Her writing style is engrossing and to the point.
I liked the last few chapters where she talks about Digital Health and face-off projects. It’s a short, quick informative read that will give us a new perspective. When it comes to social media. A well-researched and well-detailed book.
A Dismantle Approach of Likes, Retweets, and Forwards by Bhavya Jain is a representation of the dark sides of social media platforms that are existing and are been avoided by the users. It throws light on the fact that today each and every decision is been influenced directly by these platforms. Also how things are been driven through the online space communications. This book gives in-depth insights into the strategies been used by the platform to access users’ information and use it for minting money. While flipping the pages, you will realize how as a user even you are diving into the murky pool of digitization.
