Soni’s poems beautifully capture the essence of love and loss, serving as poignant reminders of the loves we’ve lost and the universe’s support during difficult times. The verses of hope and growth are skillfully portrayed, almost like a concise story in themselves. Throughout the book, Soni’s words paint a vibrant world of emotions, from self-love to gratitude to the unbreakable bond of sisterhood setting a subtle and beautiful tone throughout.

Her writing style is simple yet captivating, allowing readers to effortlessly connect with her poetic expression. The simplicity of her words adds to the depth and power of the poems, leaving a lasting impression, and evoking a sense of nostalgia that strikes the right chord.

The poems here carry a certain depth and power that linger in one’s thoughts, eliciting a sense of nostalgia. Soni’s ability to strike the right chord with her straightforward language is truly commendable. What I loved most is the simplicity of her writing. I found myself rereading lines, savouring the beauty and wisdom imbued in each word.

My favourite poem from the book is ‘Gratitude’. I felt there could have been more poems as it felt a little incomplete and I craved for more. At times, the poems were common, the poems and poems we often see on Instagram. I would have loved it if a few poems were a little longer and had that unique moment in them.

In all, The Soul on Fire is a relatively short collection, but it is packed with a myriad of emotions and reflections. It is a book that can be read in one sitting, yet its impact lingers long after the final page is turned. Soni’s words have the power to heal, inspire, and ignite the fire within every reader’s soul.
