Review
“Lead with integrity, stay focused on the outcomes that matter, and make sure your work drives real impact” this line truly stayed with me.
Everyone has a different style of leadership. For me it is about leading with kindness. While we see different leaders shaping world today, Abhijoy gandhi’s A New corporate Mantra talks about the people we work with. A New Corporate Mantra by Abhijoy Gandhi reads like a practical playbook for millennials and Gen Z professionals navigating today’s complex corporate world. It introduces new-age mantras that truly have your back, helping you decode workplace dynamics and take charge of your own career journey, instead of merely reacting to situations.
Abhijoy largely draws from his experience in American corporate setups, where climbing the corporate ladder is rarely straightforward. He explains how we are constantly surrounded by different kinds of people, some who uplift us, and others who unknowingly (or knowingly) make our journey difficult. Through relatable examples, the book dives deep into varied leadership styles and highlights how these behaviours directly impact individual growth, team morale, and organizational culture.
One of the strongest aspects of the book is how vividly it categorizes workplace personalities. From saboteurs, disruptors, clock burners to 27 such corporate characters and 9 Yapaholic Personas streaming in the wild, he explains how some thrive while others collapse under pressure. More importantly, it shows readers how to avoid collapsing by observing, learning, and adapting from these behaviors rather than absorbing them blindly.
He introduces intriguing archetypes like the silent saboteur, charm manipulator, backdoor strategist, snake oil salesman, illusion architect, and many other characters we instantly recognize from our own workplaces. You’ll easily identify personalities like the techno talker, the data hoarder, or the planner who never delivers. Alongside these, Abhijoy also talks about good leadership, how strong leaders shape teams and cultures, nurture talent, build resilient organizations, and create environments where people can genuinely grow, driving meaningful impact.
The book also explores generational differences, highlighting how millennials and Gen Z professionals are uniquely balancing ambition, adaptability, values and diverse working styles in fast-evolving corporate ecosystems.
What I truly appreciated is how thoroughly he explains each concept. From how to deal with different and difficult personalities to what habits to avoid, and what lessons to take forward, he explains it with charts, breakdowns, and behavioral frameworks that make the content accessible and actionable. This book is, at its core, about understanding human behavior at work before trying to master systems or hierarchies.
That said, while the content is insightful, my only concern is that at times it felt like too much. Certain ideas became repetitive, and I felt the book could have been more powerful if it were shorter and more concise. With fewer repetitions and tighter explanations, it could have made an even stronger and sharper impact.
Abhijoy’s writing style is simple, engaging, and practical. He keeps the tone light while offering actionable insights, pro tips to level up, leadership cues, clear “what not to do” moments, and real-world applications. The advice feels usable, not theoretical. The practicality of the book is its biggest strength throughout.
Overall, A New Corporate Mantra is a valuable read for anyone looking to understand workplace dynamics better and helps you reflect on how to carve your own path with clarity and integrity. Despite its length, the practicality and honesty of the book make it a valuable read, especially for those finding their footing in the corporate world or aspiring to lead with awareness and purpose.
