Review

“Power is in the right hands, it improves the society. The problem is that these righteous people are not ruthless and they don’t use wrong ways to achieve right. On the other hand, those balancing them are ruthless and when they get the same power, they do not think twice before doing exactly that thing what caused them to not receive it.”

That tension lies at the heart of Arsenal of the Gods by Ajeet Pratap Singh, a book that I finished in one go because I simply couldn’t stop turning the pages. I have always enjoyed stories that combine treasure hunts, run-and-chase sequences, thrilling action, and secret missions where the stakes are high and, above all, there is a larger responsibility of saving the world.

This book fits perfectly into that space. The mystery pulls you in, and you find yourself trusting Rudra and Kshitip as much as they trust each other. From the very beginning, we are drawn into Rudra’s life as it begins to unravel. He faces a series of unsettling situations, slowly realising that the life he has lived so far is built on lies. Strange dreams, disturbing revelations, and dangerous encounters force him to confront a reality he never chose. He comes to understand that the reason for his birth itself has a purpose and, without choosing it, he is thrust into a mission that feels both inevitable and terrifying.

As he struggles to decode the riddles of his own existence, danger begins to close in. That is when Kshitip, a factory colleague with secrets of his own, steps in and rescues him. When Rudra regains consciousness and understands the gravity of what is unfolding, their journey truly begins. What follows is a high-stakes adventure that takes them across ancient temples in India, where cryptic riddles are hidden within history, mantras, and sacred spaces.

Soon, they learn that they are part of the Guruputras, a secret society led by a mysterious figure determined to save the world. Rudra and Kshitip are not just participants; they are key players in this dangerous game. Their task is to solve cryptic riddles hidden within ancient temples across India. Each riddle unlocks a part of a powerful weapon, which they must assemble piece by piece only to destroy it the moment it is complete, because in the wrong hands, it has the power to end the world. The irony is striking, they must build what they are destined to dismantle.

As expected, there is a relentless run-and-chase element to the story. The thrill lies not only in solving the riddles but in surviving long enough to solve them. Mercenaries are constantly trailing them, and time is always running out. An ancient past binds the protagonists to this mission, and despite the danger, they are drawn deeper into it. Each decoded clue pushes them closer to the truth and simultaneously closer to death. As readers, we move alongside them, trying to piece together the puzzle while hoping they make it through alive.

The plot remains gripping right from the start. Ajeet maintains a strong sense of curiosity throughout the narrative. Readers remain invested in Rudra’s journey. The writing is crisp and descriptive, striking a careful balance between action and emotion. What makes the story especially compelling is how seamlessly mythology, history, and modern-day action are woven together. The descriptions of different locations across India add depth and texture to the narrative, allowing readers to experience diverse landscapes, histories, mantras, and symbols. The decoding sequences are exciting, you genuinely feel involved in the process, almost as though you are racing against time alongside the protagonists.

Rudra’s character arc is particularly well-crafted. We see him evolve from confusion and disbelief to acceptance and strength. As he begins to understand his dreams, his nightmares, and the hidden truths of his existence, we witness his transformation into someone capable of carrying immense responsibility.

Kshitip compliments him beautifully. Intelligent, composed, and layered with his own mysteries, their bond strengthens with every challenge they face together. Their conversations, light banter, and growing trust add emotional warmth amidst the tension. The portrayal of their friendship feels genuine and earned, anchoring the story emotionally even as the external stakes escalate. I also enjoyed Roshani’s character. She brings a glimmer of hope into an otherwise tense narrative, lightening moments that could have felt overwhelmingly heavy. Her presence adds emotional balance to the story, making it feel more human and grounded despite its global stakes.

Ajeet also handles the presence of evil smoothly, allowing the tension to rise steadily with each chapter. The action sequences are well-paced, and the way the protagonists gain knowledge about each place they visit and use it to decode clues is genuinely engaging. Every solved riddle feels like a narrow escape. The climax is particularly impressive. The final chapters are intense, unexpected, and brilliantly executed, leaving you satisfied yet thoughtful. When the legends collide with the present, the result is a gripping and memorable read.

Beyond the thrill and adventure, the novel raises deeper questions about power, responsibility, destiny, and choice. Who deserves power? Can the righteous protect the world without becoming ruthless themselves? And what happens when legends from the past collide with the ambitions of the present?

Overall, Arsenal of the Gods is a thrilling and immersive novel that reconnects readers with history, mythology, and the idea of responsibility that comes with power. It is a story of secrets, brotherhood, courage, and the burden of saving the world. If you enjoy fast-paced narratives filled with ancient riddles, hidden weapons, secret societies, and high-stakes missions, this is a book worth picking up.
