“Jai Shree Krishna.”

As I mentioned earlier, this sacred month of Adhik Maas or Purushottam Maas is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. So when The Adorable Shrinathji came to me during this time, I genuinely felt grateful. It honestly felt less like receiving a book and more like receiving a blessing from Him. And truly, this is one of the most heartwarming books I have ever received. It is the kind of book every child should read and every parent should lovingly read aloud to their little ones to help them understand who Shri Krishna truly is. Not just as a god we worship, but as the playful, loving, and compassionate Shrinathji of Braj.

Curated by Goswami Vishal Nathdwara, the book beautifully narrates the story of Shrinathji – the seven-year-old form of Shri Krishna  who appeared in the mountains of Govardhan. Through simple yet immersive storytelling, the book takes readers into the divine world of Krishna’s Leelas in Govardhan, his connection with the villagers, and his playful presence among devotees.

What makes the narration even more special is its simplicity. The storytelling never feels heavy or overly philosophical despite carrying deep spiritual meaning. Instead, it feels gentle, immersive, and comforting, almost like listening to Krishna Kathas from an elder in the family. The book beautifully balances devotion, history, and storytelling in a way that keeps both children and adults emotionally connected throughout.

One of the aspects I loved most about the book is how beautifully it introduces readers to Lord Vallabhacharya — the saint deeply loved by Shri Krishna and the founder of Pushti Marg. The book explains who Vallabhacharya was, why Krishna waited for him, and what made their connection so spiritually significant. We see how Lord Krishna Himself called Vallabhacharya to Vraj, asked him to perform seva, and guided him in teaching others the path of devotion and loving service. The book also explains how Pushti Marg was established, how Shrinathji Himself guided Vallabhacharya in arranging the seva and devotional traditions around Him, and how the seva pranali – the system of worship and devotion was formed.  

What makes this book even more special is the simplicity of its writing style. It feels honest, warm, and deeply comforting. While reading, one can genuinely feel the innocence and beauty of Krishna’s Leelas. The writing carries a softness that makes the book feel more like a heartfelt conversation about faith, devotion, and Krishna’s divine presence in Braj. And I cannot forget to mention the adorable illustrations throughout the book. They make the reading experience even more immersive and magical, especially for young readers who are just beginning to learn about Shri Krishna and His Leelas.

Alongside this, the book beautifully shares many Krishna Leelas like how Shrinathji drank milk from Saddu Pande’s cow, how He lovingly interacted with villagers, how He played with Kumbhandas, and how devotees first worshipped only His divine hand, then His face, and eventually His complete form. Goswami Vishal also beautifully narrates Shri Krishna’s Leelas with Indra and Lord Brahma, and how joyfully He spent His time in Braj while waiting for Vallabhacharya to arrive.

Another beautiful detail shared in the book is the belief that Vallabhacharya was born on the same sacred day as Shrinathji’s divine appearance. The book also talks about Pratham Milan, a place celebrated beautifully in Braj even today. These moments add emotional and spiritual depth to the reading experience and help readers feel more connected to the traditions of Pushti Marg.

The Adorable Shrinathji by Goswami Vishal Nathdwara is a wholesome, devotional, and beautifully curated book that is truly a must-read, especially for those who wish to understand Krishna Leela, learn about Vallabhacharya, or simply introduce children to the beauty of Shri Krishna and his seva in the most gentle and heartwarming way possible. It is not just a book for children, but also for adults who wish to reconnect with the innocence, warmth, and devotion found in Krishna’s stories. 

More than just retelling Krishna’s stories, this book gently reminds readers that devotion can also be experienced through innocence, warmth, and love. A truly comforting and soulful read, especially during the sacred month of Purushottam Maas.
