‘Nothing beats kindness, it sits quietly beyond all things.’
Five years later, I read my favourite book, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, and it felt like homecoming. This book has been my go-to, my source of inspiration, and my guiding light in finding home, no matter where I am in life. It has always pulled me out of the hole, towards the light, at any phase. Every time I come across this book, I open a page, and it gives me the message or lesson I need to learn. Yesterday, I got the time and opportunity to read it from the start, and trust me, flipping each page felt like pure contentment, like each word was meant to soothe my soul.

There’s something about its simplicity that makes you reflect deeply. It doesn’t overwhelm you with heavy wisdom, but rather, it quietly nudges you to remember what truly matters: kindness, friendship, and the beauty of small, simple moments. There’s always something in its pages that feels like it’s speaking directly to you— like a conversation with a close friend who knows exactly what you need to hear at that moment, reminding you of your worth, your purpose, and the strength you have within. There’s no rush, no complexity—just quiet, profound moments shared between the boy, the mole, the fox, and the horse. Each one has their own unique way of offering a lesson, whether it’s about embracing vulnerability, finding joy in the small things, or showing up for yourself and others.
Reading it again made me realize how much I’ve grown, how much I’ve learned from the lessons it offers. The book has a way of showing you the truth in its gentle words, truth that sometimes we forget in the hustle of life. The messages are timeless, and yet, every time I read them, they feel as fresh and meaningful as the first time. I don’t just read this book for the lessons; I read it for the comfort it brings, for the stillness it helps me find amidst life’s chaos.
It’s so easy to get lost in the noise of life, to forget that kindness is a quiet, yet powerful force that can transform our hearts and minds. In a world that often moves too fast, this book slows me down, invites me to be still, and helps me reconnect with what truly matters. It’s a rare kind of book that you can read over and over and still discover new layers. Every time I turn its pages, it feels like a different part of me is being seen and understood, as if the book has always known the right words to help me grow. It’s more than just a collection of words and pictures; it’s a source of comfort, a reminder that it’s okay to be imperfect, to be vulnerable, and to find joy in the simplest moments.
The truth is, this book is not just a book—it’s a friend. And it always knows when to show up, just when I need it the most.
