The story gets more intense as it proceeds, as the knots untangle well. The sibling’s bond, the grandmother granddaughter’s relationship, everything felt real. The climax indeed was surprising.
Reviews
Right from the cover and title, I was curious to read this book. If I have to sum up in a few words, this book is about GENERATIONS, A journey of mother and daughter, about the chaos in their lives and how they handled them. Is it okay to be silent? To ignore the actions? Will Maya react the same as Vaidehi did?
This book is about perspectives. With an interesting plot, author Manisha weaves a brilliant tale of Love, Relationships, sacrifices, Drama and gives us a glimpse of the situations in Indian Families.
Parallelly Narrated, Manisha shares the journey of Vaidehi, her marriage with Vinod and life there, with kids and her inlaws. How difficult her life was and how she wanted to give her best to her children. In giving best, somewhere she differentiated between her kids Maya and Manav, without knowing the impact.

Another story is of Maya and Manish. Maya who is not in love with Manish, finds herself suffocated in the Marriage. Will she ignore and continue? Will she not speak up just like her mother?
What we pass on to our daughters, is full of drama and determination I would say, the two women have for their families and themselves. While Vaidehi builds a healthy family, Maya wanted a healthy life for herself, happiness for herself. How will her parents react when she will tell them about her marriage? The discrimination between daughter and daughter-in-law? When she feels like a guest in her own home?
With simple language, and a crisp writing style, Manisha raises an important topic, conveys an important message here. It’s a bit slow-paced story and a heavy read with too many details that might make you a bit tedious, but the lessons and situations will make you curious to read the book.
The well-developed characters and the way the author expressed emotions is commendable. Her words hit the right chord and one could feel the pain the ladies went through.
The story gets more intense as it proceeds, as the knots untangle well. The sibling’s bond, the grandmother granddaughter’s relationship, everything felt real. The climax indeed was surprising.
You will surely love reading this book.
Summary

Maya is a millennial and revels in a sense of freedom that modern marriages commonly offer – until she is faced with a more passive-aggressive face of patriarchy and she’s met with a demeaning treatment. As the silence of endurance that she has inherited from her mother and her exposure to feminism clash within her, her mind wanders outside of her marriage.
As Maya and Vaidehi’s lives intersect, questions and confrontations explode and die out in the generational chasm that create everlasting rifts and regrets, which women live with.
