Review:

▶️ one quality of a leader is?

‘The key to success is not through demands, longer hours at the office, or even high expectations. What’s important is the ability to adapt.’

Light, heartwarming, and insightful, that’s how this book is. Emotional yet powerful, teaching us lessons for life. Adapt by Raghavan Venugopal is the journey of Ram who is all set to get bigger responsibilities at his workplace. With a new role and a set of challenges, Ram as he is, tries to find out the missing element and when he comes across the same, like a true leader, he decides to bring the change. In this journey, you will see the abilities that make Ram a true leader, as well as his will to not let other people go through difficulties. He tries to make the workspace culture healthy, and people more happy. In this process, the key to learning is the way he balances his personal and professional lives and how he always keeps learning from the surroundings making him find answers to his difficulties.

This is not a typical book with dos and don’ts, it is a journey altogether, a recipe to nurture an employee-centric, purposeful and high-performance success mindset culture. I would say, the plot of Ram’s journey is inspiring and to the point, eye-opening and making readers curious about Ram’s way of working.

With a crisp, descriptive narrative, Raghavan’s practical approach makes it relatable for the readers. His writing style is engrossing and to the point. What I enjoyed most was the way Ram balanced spending time with his family, the support he got from his wife and children, and the way he learned from the situations and decided to bring the change.

A smooth-paced, adventurous journey filled with emotions, hope, politics, challenges and a will to create a healthy work culture. Ram’s efforts are appreciating, and the way he is determined to sort it out and take challenging roles makes his character an inspiring, ideal character for the readers.

With each chapter, you grow here. Ram creates a conducive environment where there’s a path for personal growth too. Not to forget the climax which is again filled with twists and is heartbreaking. The way Ram takes it is mind-blowing. Not to forget the ending where he shares the philosophy of Integrated growth on the path to unite with the purpose to serve. That is one of the best sections. From What IGUs mean for businesses to management policies to leadership pipeline, with charts and diagrams he explains it all.

It is a thought-provoking, insightful read with lessons for life. It teaches us to serve with purpose while focusing on our personal growth too. It focuses on creating a healthy, conducive environment for every individual in the organization. Ram’s perspective and vision for growth are commendable. A character I truly admired. Want to read something that gives food to the brain and is light at the same time? This is the one.
