Beyond the Last Page | Dear Summer from No More Secrets by Lucy Score

Dear Summer,

As I read your journey unfold, I found myself admiring you for so many reasons. I loved how you held on to your ethics and your belief in doing what is right, even when it wasn’t easy. I admired the way you stepped into unfamiliar situations with an open mind, spoke up when it mattered, and never stopped seeking the truth behind every story. I understood your fears throughout your journey. I understood what it feels like to build walls around ourselves and still find ourselves falling for someone unexpectedly. I understood the fear of letting someone in and the even greater fear of hurting someone who loves us deeply. Sometimes, vulnerability feels far scarier than loneliness.

I also understood your constant need to prove your worth and your determination to build a life on your own terms. I understood why work meant so much to you and why you kept pushing yourself to achieve more. Somewhere deep down, it felt as though you were trying to convince yourself that you were enough and worthy exactly as you are. I loved watching you slowly let Blue Moon Bend change you. You arrived with your Manhattan routines, deadlines, and carefully built plans, never expecting to find comfort in farm life, quirky townspeople, and a community that welcomed you with open arms. Somewhere along the way, you stopped merely visiting Blue Moon Bend and began belonging to it, and that transformation was one of my favourite parts of your journey.

What made me fall for you the most was your kindness. You had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and comfortable around you. You reached out to people who mattered and looked for the real stories behind their lives, and in doing so, you unknowingly became a part of their stories too. You never made people feel like outsiders, even when you yourself were trying to find where you belonged.

I also admired how willing you were to embrace the unfamiliar. Even when things felt awkward, unexpected, or completely outside your comfort zone, you allowed yourself to experience them wholeheartedly. That openness made your growth feel authentic and beautiful. But what I appreciated most about you was the courage you showed when you chose to walk away from something you had always wanted because the circumstances surrounding it did not align with your values. Choosing integrity over comfort and dreams over compromised ethics takes immense strength, and that made me respect you even more.

And then there were the little things- the small rules that you and Carter created together, the quiet moments of understanding, and the comfort you found in each other. They made me smile and think that if I ever had a partner, I would want a relationship built on the same friendship, honesty, and ease that the two of you shared.

By the time I turned the last page, I realised that you were not just finding love in Blue Moon Bend; you were finding yourself. And perhaps that is why your story stayed with me. You reminded me that vulnerability is not weakness, that belonging often finds us in unexpected places, and that staying true to our values is sometimes the bravest choice we can make.

With love,
A reader who found a little piece of herself in your journey.
