Interview

Tell us about the idea behind the book?

Well the idea is to display and bring out raw human emotions. I feel poetry is a great wonder of art that provides catharsis to the readers and helps the writers pour the colossal of stories captured inside of them. That’s what I’ve tried my best to do. The readers will feel all the emotions from the sweetness of happiness to an ever-occurring feeling of being lost in the world. The idea is to relate to people and allow them to relate to you.

Q) How much time did it take in the process of writing?

I’ve actually been writing poetry, proses, short stories, etc for five years now. It started as a hobby and slowly turned into a passion. So I had a lot of material when I thought about publishing a poetry collection. I’ve self-published this book so I did everything myself. I made the cover of the book myself, made the manuscript, did all the editing by myself, so the whole process was kinda tiring but I guess it’s all worth it in the end. Basically, it took me 5 months to compile and publish the entire book.

Q) What did the process of writing this book teach you?

It definitely taught me about my creative powers and revealed my passion towards writing. Everything I
write comes from the heart so basically, I’m displaying my heart to the world, in the hope that it will be acceptable gently. It also taught me that I’m capable of doing anything I set my mind to. Poetry is a form
of self-expression for me so while writing I naturally introspect a lot which helps me understand myself a
little better.

Q) What inspired you to write this book?

I guess just reading the work of other writers and always daydreaming about publishing my own poetry
book someday inspired me. I’ve been chasing this dream for a long time and now it’s true and I can’t be
happier. A bunch of my poems and short stories have been published before in anthologies but the satisfaction of holding the book with my name written on the front cover just feels absolutely wonderful.

Q) A book that had an impact on you, which helped you in writing this one?

A lot of what I read has a deep impact on me and my thoughts. My work consists a sense of existentialism which comes from deep within. I write what I observe about the world as well as use my own experiences as metaphors to display the truth as I see it. As a writer, I always want to be truthful to myself and to my readers. I fairly enjoy the works of Franz Kafka and Charles Bukowski and I feel their work has impacted me as a writer as well as a person.

Q) Your favorite chapter from the book?

I guess my favourite piece from the book is ‘From sunrise till twilight’ (page – 61) as it has a little story
and a sweet conversation as well as a poem attached to it which makes it even more beautiful to read.

Q) Tell us about your plans? Planning a new book?

Haha! Maybe. I’ve got some ideas in my mind but it’ll take a while to completely develop and work on
them. So till then, enjoy this book.

Q) How your life changed after the book was published?

Despite of being a writer, I can’t put that feeling in words. Seeing my work being published just felt heavenly. The sense of excitement and joy filled my heart to the top. And the book was greeted wholeheartedly by everyone. I actually didn’t tell a lot of people that I’m gonna publish a book, I just published it and surprised them, so there were literally hundreds of amazing messages and reactions to it which still put a smile on my face. My whole family was so proud of me. My friends appreciated me so much. I went to my old school and gave some copies of my book to the teachers and they started showering me with compliments. It’s simply a dream come true. It’s indescribable to think about a moment and then actually live in that moment. I’m just grateful for everything.

Q) What is a literary success for you?

To be able to connect with people on a deeper level, to be able to speak their minds, unfold their love,
make sense of their grief and touch their soul through my words.
