Interview with Sandhya K Ravi – Author of Never Let Go, Until We’re Gone

Interview

Q) Tell us about the idea behind the book?

This book has a lot of instances portrayed from my personal life experiences. I have lived every line in this book. Losing someone, who really meant the world to you, is equivalent to a worst nightmare. But there’s always sunshine beyond darkness. Never let go until we’re gone, typically portrays the true and intense feelings which I felt at some point in my life. It’s really unforeseen, that this turned out to be my first book, since this wasn’t the first project that I was working on. Nevertheless, this book holds a special place in my heart.

Q) How much time did it take in the process of writing?

It took me almost a month to complete writing these poems. This book is a collection of poems, closely knitted which portrays the real emotions  of love, heartbreak and hope.

Q) What did the process of writing this book teach you?

As I penned down the lines, I started feeling much better. The pain began dissipating as I was free to express my bottled-up emotions on a piece of paper, with no worries of judgment. I felt relieved and now, I am in a much better place emotionally, mentally and physically. There’s always a higher reason why God allows pain in your life. So trust his plan, not your pain. Everything will turn out good in the end.

Q) What inspired you to write this book?

I wished someone to be a writer not knowing that I would turnout to be one, writing a book for them. Such an irony ! Isn’t it ?. Well, now when I look back at the conversation and the instances, it doesn’t feel like a co-incidence anymore. This book was destined and the love feels real.

Q) Which is your favourite part from the book?

To be candid, I would say each and every poem in this book is unique and heartfelt. So, I equally love all the poems in this book.

Q) A book that had an impact on you, which helped you in writing this one?

“I too had a love story”, by Ravinder Singh. I never thought I will get to experience true love in my life which would inspire me to write, “Never let go until we’re gone”.

Q) Tell us about your plans? Planning a new book?

My next book is halfway through. Hopefully with God’s grace it turns out good because the story plot is real, a true life story. Stay tuned !

Q) How your life changed after the book was published?

As an author, my only aim in writing this book is to touch reader’s soul. My lines should have depth, where the readers can connect with every line, penned. When I get personal messages from readers saying that they did really connect with the book, it made me the happiest.

Q) What is a literary success for you?

As far as I am concerned, literary success is not the mere monetary success and fame. I would be glad if people genuinely loved the essence of my work and if they are happy with my work.

Q) A message for all the readers.

It’s fine to fall in love and get your heart broken by someone. Love is something which is beyond our control. As we mature, we realise that we are only in control of our actions and not the feelings. Love is not always about ending up together, there’s more to love. It’s also about wishing good things for each other, rooting for each other’s success, being there for each other in times of need. All these tiny things does matter. Be grateful for the memories and the love which binds you both.

“All that I ever want,
Is to see you happy,
To see you prosper,
I will always keep cheering for you
from a nook,
We are never apart,
I see you in me”
