▶️ What does poetry mean to you?

When Robert Frost said,  “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words”, I could relate to these words more after reading Ajita Sharma’s, “ The Mosaic of Autumn”.

It’s Book 72 of 2023 and it’s a book that offers a beautiful and enriching reading experience.

Poetry, how beautifully it expresses so many things in just a few words. How it creates a beautiful masterpiece for the one who truly reads the meaning between the lines.

The beauty of poetry lies in the ability to express the depths of emotions with a few words, Ajita here creates a beautiful and cohesive narrative that makes readers experience the shades of life with her subtle yet powerful words. The richness of her words, the sweet melody beneath them, and the emotions that sprung in me made me pause and appreciate the beauty of life. 

“ Every day, I stare longingly,
Into the broken mirror that once reflected my smile
But now it shows my smile in pieces,
Maybe someday that wandering part of me will find me again.
However injured it may be,
Somehow muster the remaining strength,
And trace its steps back to me.”

These lines still linger in my heart as I write this post.

Ajita Sharma’s “Mosaic of Autumn” is a stunning collection of forty poems that delve into the complexities of life in a thought-provoking and deeply moving way.

Through her poems, Ajita skillfully allows readers to witness and guides them to embrace the changes in life. She brings readers face-to-face with the realities of life as she sees it.  She touches upon unsaid words, longing love, and the various situations that test and challenge us. The poems flow seamlessly together capturing the various shades of life and painting a vivid picture of each human experience.

What sets this collection apart is Ajita’s ability to explore the themes of love, betrayal, loss, hope, pain and life and death from both a philosophical and psychological lens. She reflects on a range of topics from hard-hitting memories to nostalgia, to learning how to cope with the absence of loved ones, while reminding us to keep moving forward and to never give up. Her poems evoke a sense of reflection as they serve as a reminder of both nature’s abundance and decay and death at the same time.

Each poem in the collection is a unique masterpiece in its own right, but what truly stands out is the way in which Ajita has curated them. Some of my favourite poems from the collection include “Invisible Parts,” “Our Share of Life,” “Unsaid Words,” “Love,” “Mirage,” and “Stagnant Sadness.” 

In all, “Mosaic of Autumn” is a stunning collection of poems that will appeal to anyone who appreciates compelling poetry. Ajita Sharma’s talent as a poet shines through on every page, making this collection an absolute must-read.
