•Those we love, don’t go away. They walk beside us every day. Unheard. Unseen. But always near. Still loved. Still missed and very dear.•

@gwalanilata Lata Gwalani has been my go-to author now. Her stories always surprise me. The way she weaves the stories gives readers goosebumps. After the prisoners of secrets is one of my favourite reads, I knew this book is another gem.

Right from the impressive cover and attractive title, Road to Abana is a heart-wrenching story of Paari and her determination to return to her home in Sukkur, Pakistan, in her Abana.

In this journey of homecoming, life throws many challenges and she stands there strong, facing each of them with patience and strong will. After losing everything she loved and finding herself again, when life was back on track, partition happened and she was forced to leave her home.

Staying with her sister and brother-in-law, she was determined to leave that space and return to home. In this journey she meets Lachman, Shaqib, Zain, Aaira and Virmal. How their oaths cross, from the outskirts of Ulhasnagar to the dark valleys of Karachi to Dubai Paari’s journey is wrought with hardships that tests her spirit and tenacity.

With another breathtaking plot and vivid, descriptive narration, Lata Gwalai once again makes readers fall in love with her writing. She makes readers fall in love with the sharp, strong willed Paari, who is soft, and childish at heart. It’s a brilliant book that will melt your heart. I loved the way she weaves the story with love, loss, determination, struggles, betrayal and strength.

From giving us a gist about the life and nature of Sindhi to sharing about the precious father-daughter bond, to the childhood lover whom she couldn’t get married to, to the loveless life and finding herself again, Lata Gwalani steals the show with her writing.

Trust me, there’s no putting down, no single dull moment. It’s a courageous journey, where you witness the life Paari chose for herself. It’s a smooth paced, moving read that surprises you with every chapter.
Not only Paari, but the author also shed light on the life of other characters and the miserable game
