Review:

Whenever the sea demands its space, that’s when we will understand the destruction we have done to mother earth. This particular thought lingers in my mind whenever I think about a conversation I had with my mom regarding many of the developments and redevelopments. Book 96 of 2023 is a thought-provoking read.

“Saptarishi – Journey to Earth” by Bibhuti Shankar Das is a captivating book that seamlessly blends fantasy and mythology, taking readers on an enthralling adventure through time and space. Set against the backdrop of a world on the brink of destruction, the story follows the immortal Vaivasvat Manu and a team of seven great sages as they embark on a mission to preserve humanity’s future by journeying to another planet.

The world was on the verge of destruction and Vaivasvat, an immortal being was chosen to safeguard and take the seeds of Humanity ahead to another planet. Guided by the universe, Vaivasvat begins his mission of forming a team before the destruction begins. How does he accomplish this task?  Who will be there in his team? How do they all proceed?

With many questions, Bibhuti Das takes us on an exhilarating ride to the planet Dharaa where Humankind had reached the apex of technological development. While they reaped the benefits of scientific developments, they created the device of their own destruction. How and when? Discover the answers to these mysteries as we delve into Bibhuti Shankar Das’s book “Saptarishi,” which chronicles Vaivasvat’s journey.

One of the book’s strengths lies in its ability to weave together Vedic and Puranic teachings into the narrative. The incorporation of these mythological elements adds depth and richness to the story, providing readers with a unique perspective and a deeper understanding of the character’s motivations and actions.

The plot of the story is filled with excitement and intrigue. As Vaivasvat meticulously plans his next moves while the world hurtles towards catastrophe, readers are kept on the edge of their seats, eagerly turning pages to unravel the mysteries and challenges that lie ahead. Bibhuti’s descriptive writing style vividly brings the scenes to life, immersing readers in the fantastical world of planet Dharaa.

It’s a fast-paced story with a crisp, descriptive narrative. Bibhuti skillfully immerses us in the story, ensuring there are no dull moments. One is compelled to continue reading, eager to uncover Vaivasvat’s strategies. I loved how the events unfolded. Although they may seem somewhat jumbled with many things happening together, but then they were all fascinating to follow.

The characters developed by the author are commendable. Each character, from the wise Rishi Vaishistha to the courageous Vaivasvat and the noble Shraddha, is well-crafted and contributes meaningfully to the overall story. Vaivasvat and Shraddha’s characters shine out for me. Their actions and interactions drive the narrative forward, and their unwavering commitment to their divine duties adds a layer of realism to the tale.

The journey gets more and more exciting with every new character introduced by the author and the tasks they are assigned to. However, one minor drawback is that there are too many characters and events at times makes it challenging to keep track of everyone and their specific roles. Despite this, Bibhuti’s skilful storytelling and the sheer excitement of the plot kept me engaged and invested in the story.

It’s a bit heavy read with too many events happening but it’s exciting to read their journey to another planet. The final chapters, featuring a world war, the destruction of Planet Dharaa, and their voyage to Earth, were truly gripping. Here, Bibhuti infuses a touch of mythology, offering readers a fresh perspective. From drawing the graphs and maps to balancing the vibrations and starting the life on Earth, Vaivasvat’s journey is truly exciting to read.

Bibhuti Shankar Das creates a thought-provoking read that seamlessly combines elements of fantasy, mythology, and environmental awareness. Through the lens of Vaivasvat’s journey, the book imparts an important message of being mindful of our actions and taking responsibility for our surroundings. The book explores themes of redemption, sacrifice, and the power of collective effort to save Humankind.

I enjoyed the moments in the book. Be it Mohanraj’s encounter with Rishi Vaishistha or Vaivasvat’s meeting with Divine Lord and conversations across the Loka’s everything felt real. I loved how each chapter is introduced with a Shloka from different Vedas giving us a gist of what’s coming next. It’s a moving story with lessons to learn.

In all, “Saptarishi – Journey to Earth” is an exciting and immersive read, perfect for fans of fantasy and Indian History. With an intriguing plot and descriptive narrative, Bibhuti weaves an intriguing and realistic tale that you will enjoy.
