Amitav Ganguly is an author of TenX Murders for the mind.
Interview:
Why this genre? If you have to write in some other genre, what that would be?
AMITAV GANGULY: I believe that a murder mystery genre has a vital element of rationality, the convergence of facts, evidence, and some understanding of criminal justice. These attract my creative urges. I have already authored a book on paranormal stories which genre initially attracted me because I let my creativity transcend to another level altogether.
Your favourite part from the book?
AG: In all stories, where Inspector Samsher Brahma unravels the mystery step by step with logic and evidence – those are my favourite parts because that were the most difficult to write.
Tell us about the idea behind the book?
AG: Crime and murders have been in society from time immemorial. But these always needed to be curbed and justice brought in. The pin-pointing of the killers has been the main idea of my stories to impart justice. Crime never pays.
How much time it took in the process of writing?
AG: It took almost a year of strenuous efforts!
What did the process of writing this book teach you?
AG: One has to pursue his goal persistently and with intellect!
What inspired you to write this book?
AG: I love crime stories that have influenced me. I have read my favourites like Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot, Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Byomkesh Bakshi by Sarodindu Bandyopadhyay in Bengali, and many more.
5 books one must read in a lifetime.
AG: Depends upon the reader’s love for his or her genre of the subject.
A book that had an impact on you, which helped you in writing this one?
AG: Like I said, a few authors have influenced me. Their many books had made impacts continuously.
Tell us about your publishing journey in 5 words.
AG: Clarity, perseverance, re-evaluation , thoroughness, & support.
A quote, para from the book that inspires you.
AG: “But nothing worthwhile can be achieved by any crime.” As said by Inspector Samsher Brahma.
Tell us about your future plans? Planning a new book?
AG: A novel and not short stories will be written. Perhaps with a combined genre of crime & detection with a tinge of paranormal.
What is literary success for you?
AG: Like all authors, I love appreciation and success, and if there are criticisms, I will be happy if they are constructive so that I can improve my writings in future.
A message for all the readers.
AG: If you love a book, tell your friends and family. The entire literary multitude needs your support at all times.
