Interview

Q) Tell us about the idea behind the book?

It was in 2014, when I was working in HCL Noida, and was not making much progress on the writing side, I thought that I should write a novel sometime. I had many ideas in my mind to write. At that time, I framed a story, with my current life, and what I was going through and wanted people to get to know the real corporate work that was going on. And that’s how We’re Corporates was born.

Q) How much time did it take in the process of writing?

It took more than a year. Initially I drafted the whole story in my notebook and saw in sincerity whether it would work. Then, i slowly started writing in my computer and it got converted into a full fledged novel.

Q) What did the process of writing this book teach you?

There was a lot of learning. Sincerity and perseverance is the first and foremost factor. Sitting and writing a 40k word novel is not a simple thing. Each and every day you have to slog after your work hours to complete the novel. Dedicated some time daily for reading, and writing. Sincerity, Dedication and Perseverance, I learned through this process.

Q) What inspired you to write this book?

My own life. I can see people how they slog through their daily routines, and how their lifestyle gets changed. I wanted to say this story to the people out there and wanted to change their perception of working in corporate. It is elite, it is lavish, and it has its own cons.

Q) Which is your favourite part from the book?

The inspiration the lead character drives from within when he has nothing around. That’s difficult. When you are knocked down, it takes immense self confidence to tell yourself that you can comeback again strongly. That’s my favorite part of the book.

Q) A book that had an impact on you, which helped you in writing this one?

Surely it is Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. That’s my favorite book. That book had an impact on me because I was just postponing things and wasn’t writing anything. After reading that book, I understood that if I don’t follow my passion of writing the book at that time, and it won’t happen anytime. (The baker’s story in that book, had an great impact in me)

Q) Tell us about your plans? Planning a new book?

Yes there are two unfinished novels in my drafts and i am planning to complete that and planning to publish it.

Q) How your life changed after the book was published?

Nothing much, I am the same person. When people love my story, I feel very good and pleasant. When people say some constructive things on my novel i learn and try not to make that mistake again.

Q) What is a literary success for you?

To be able to survive on the author’s earnings.

A message for all the readers.
