Review:

is a wonderful book that will make you add travelling with all women’s group on your bucket list just like I did.

It’s a story of 16 women who travel to Spain and Portugal together. This trip changes the life of each one of them. Each woman has a story to tell, a pain to share and a smile to celebrate. I liked how the author developed the characters that one could connect to.

Different backgrounds, different personalities, and different generations come together for 13 days. How their life takes a 360-degree turn after the trip? Will they stay in touch? There are many many questions.

The storyline of the book is intriguing filled with humour and twists. The varied plot of the story with an engaging narration makes this book more special.

I liked how the author sequenced each event making the reader curious. I loved Leela’s and Kritika’s story the most. What I liked most about the book is the way the author described every emotion.

It’s a book that has love, regret, loss, adventure, fear, happiness and strength, all together. The language used by the author is easy to understand. It’s a smooth paced book with an appealing and lucid writing style.

With family drama, dialogues and like a filmy Bollywood movie, it’s a light and refreshing read that one must pick up. Want to read a light, unique read? Pick this book up.

Summary

“There are instances when the truth suddenly pitches at us with an undeniable impact. Our buried feelings come to the fore due to a trigger in our environment.”

What happens when the skeins of life of 16 diverse Indian women, aged 25 to 67, get entwined when they travel to Spain and Portugal in an all-women’s tour?

With a galaxy of identifiable characters from modern urban India depicted with light-hearted mirth in a travel environment, the novel explores serious issues, such as the quest for an independent identity and economic independence, the violence within and outside our homes, the loneliness of old age and the need for constructive channelization of youthful energy. Spanning events across a little more than a year, Skeins depicts how self-expression and a supportive environment trigger a cataclysmic effect and stimulate the women to realize their dreams.
