I have been reading and watching a lot of political drama these days. While I finished both the seasons of #maharani where I liked season 1 more than season 2, I simultaneously finished reading this amazing book by Devesh Verma.

Set in the Era of post-independence, Devesh.vermaa takes us to the life of Ram Mohan, an ambitious man who wants to become a politician.
Who is Ram Mohan? What’s his journey about? The answer is revealed when Badri gets a call that tells him about his friend Deena who is dead. When he reaches he finds some notes that have a story of his father Ram Mohan.

From political scenarios during that time to conflicts and violence and his will to become a politician. With some intense political drama, Devesh Verma weaves a stunning tale that will astound you especially if you love reading political dramas.

The plot of the story is interesting and to the point. Right from Badri discovering Deena’s death to Ram Mohan’s early days, the way events were taking place was surprising. With each chapter, a layer is uncovered telling us about the harsh situations during that period.

With a crisp descriptive narrative and an engrossing writing style, it’s a well-detailed read with many twists.
The characters are brilliantly sketched by the author. The more we understand Ram Mohan’s journey, the more we get to know about the power of politics and promises. The plot shifts between past and present which at times the sudden shifts breaks the link of the story and it becomes a bit difficult to connect again.

While Ram Mohan had his own struggles, trying to set his foot strong in politics with his diplomatic strategies, his wife Kranti fights to bring change in the education system, where girls get formal education. Deena too had his own struggles which the author discussed interestingly. There are other characters too that are discussed very well.

It’s a slow-paced and a heavy read. The way things were happening, The corruption, the pressure, and a lot more are wonderfully portrayed by the author. It’s an engrossing read and If you love reading political drama, do not skip this one.
