Review:

“Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path.”

From the book you were on my mind by Ranjeeta Rani.

A light and fun love story in a busy schedule is a perfect idea, and I found one such book that made me fall in love with love as I read Ranjeeta Rani’s “You Were on My Mind”. Book 79 of 2023 stands out to be a light, beautiful read.

Lia received an invitation to her friend’s wedding while feeling lonely in her Glenwood apartment on 60th Street. However, the names on the card upset her, throwing her emotions into disarray. Despite her mental turmoil, she prepares for work but gets into an accident on her way. Little did she know, her life is about to change.

Will she come to terms with her feelings? Can she overcome the obstacles to love and accept her relationship with Irwin? However, the more they tried to move on, the more fate brought them back together. Set in New York City, The author beautifully captures the city’s charm and energy in the story.

Right from the beginning, Ranjeeta captures the reader’s attention with a series of dramatic events. “You Were on My Mind” by Ranjeeta Rani is a heartwarming and captivating story of love, loss, and second chances.

As the story unfolds, it becomes more exciting, with Lia’s love for Irwin leading to some crazy actions. Ranjeeta’s writing style is entertaining, making readers experience the beauty of love. If two people are meant to be together, they will be together, No matter what. Such is the story of Lia and Irwin.

One of the strengths of the novel is Rani’s ability to explore a range of relationships beyond the central romance between Lia and Irwin. With the themes of love, loss, hope, courage and romance,  the novel delves into the complexities of family bonds, friendship, and sibling relationships. Ranjeeta weaves an adventurous story of love filled with lots of drama.

The plot is intriguing, with a crisp descriptive narrative that makes the readers curious about the story and the path Lia and Irwin’s lives will take as their lives are tangled with other characters. The story gets more interesting with each event, and Lia’s love for Irwin makes her do crazy actions, which is fun reading.  Lia’s will to find the truth, to find Kevin, her equation with Shelby, and of course, Irwin’s side of the story wins my heart.

The plot shifts from past to present, making it more comforting and relatable. Though the present story is more enjoyable. The characters are strong, well-developed, and have unique personalities that readers can relate to. Ranjeeta shares details about each character and their journey, which adds depth to the story. I loved reading Mary’s part of the story.

We can relate to Lia’s journey, the trauma she faced, and her condition, and get inspired by the way she handled herself and made a comeback. Apart from Lia, Mary’s character shines out.  The way she handled Lia and dedicated her life to her, made a lot of difference. What made this story special for me is the little details. Mary’s diary, her past, the tragic incident Lia faced, the decisions Mary took for her, and her care for Lia make the story more special.

The story has many elements but the way Lia found joy in small things, spending time with her child, and the way she wanted to protect Irwin is something I loved reading. Her will to make her life better, to find clarity and truth is what I admired about her.

It’s a cute love story with twists that give Bollywood feels. The last few chapters are too interesting as the story takes a real turn, and the climax is moving and to the point. “You Were on My Mind” is a delightful read that will leave readers feeling invested in the lives of the characters. The story is heartwarming and emotionally resonant, with a satisfying conclusion that delightfully ties everything together.
