‘Four Days of Magic’ by Pratik Deshmukh is a captivating and heartwarming book that weaves a tale of love, friendship, and self-discovery. Set against the backdrop of a Maharashtrian wedding in the picturesque city of Rome, the story follows Sana, a social media influencer, who is excited to attend her best friend’s wedding.

We often ignore the world around us when it comes to work. We forget to enjoy and be with the people around us.

Our protagonist, Sana, is excitedly preparing to attend her best friend’s wedding in the city of Rome. But amidst her plans to create captivating content for her followers and potential brand collaborations, she starts questioning her own motives. Is she being too self-centred, especially as the only single person in her group of friends? How will her close friends, the Sakhis, react to her decisions?

The author skillfully introduces us to Sana’s world, her aspirations, and her eagerness to create content for her online audience during the wedding festivities. The vivid descriptions of the wedding and Rome add depth and charm to the narrative, allowing readers to immerse themselves in Sana’s world as an influencer.

However, as the story unfolds,  Sana finds herself feeling suffocated amidst her own circle and decides to take a bold step by ditching her friend’s wedding midway and exploring the city of Rome alone. Throughout her solo adventure, Sana’s character undergoes significant growth, as she confronts her insecurities and reevaluates her priorities as she meets new people there. She crosses paths with Udai, a Rajasthani Prince and their encounter marks the beginning of a transformative experience that challenges Sana’s perceptions and allows her to see life from a new perspective. Udai’s own journey and approach towards life serve as an inspiring element of the narrative.

The plot of the story is impressive with a crisp descriptive narrative. As the story unfolds, it gets exciting making it no less than a roller-coaster ride. Readers are drawn into Sana’s world as they accompany her on this roller-coaster of emotions, witnessing her insecurities, actions, and growth throughout the journey. Although some of Sana’s choices may make readers question her, it reminds them that nobody is perfect and adds excitement to the story.

Pratik Deshmukh’s writing style is engaging and evocative, making the story an emotional roller-coaster for the readers. The novel effortlessly explores various themes such as the balance between personal ambitions and relationships, the significance of being true to oneself, and the power of human connections. These thought-provoking elements prompt readers to reflect on their own lives and choices.

One of the book’s greatest strengths lies in its well-developed characters. Pratik masterfully crafts strong and relatable characters that resonate with the readers. Sana is portrayed as a multi-dimensional protagonist with flaws and vulnerabilities. As the story progresses, her actions, doubts, and growth are skillfully presented. While Sana’s choices may not always be perfect, they evoke a sense of relatability, making her a well-rounded character.

Udai’s character not only serves as a catalyst for Sana’s personal transformation but also brings depth and charm to the overall plot. The interactions and chemistry between Sana and Udai are beautifully portrayed, adding a layer of romance and intrigue to the story.

The pacing of the book is well-balanced, with a mix of emotional introspection, exciting encounters, and unexpected twists that keep readers hooked until the very end. Through Sana’s encounters with Udai, her perspective on life begins to shift, and the impact of Udai’s journey on her is profound. The story artfully balances moments of fun, happiness, and depth, making it an inspiring and memorable read. The second half of the book, in particular, stands out with an unpredictable and surprising climax with unexpected twists.

While ‘Four Days of Magic’ successfully conveys an important message about choosing one’s own happiness, some readers may find the ending slightly abrupt, leaving them with a desire for more closure on certain aspects of the story, particularly concerning Sana’s relationships with her friends and family.  How will Sana’s Parents react to her trip? What happens next when Sana encounters certain truths? This book will leave you with many such questions.

In all, ‘Four Days of Magic’ is a delightful and emotionally layered read that leaves a lasting impression on the readers. It takes them on a journey of self-discovery, love, and the significance of following one’s heart, making it a highly recommended book for those seeking a heartwarming and inspiring story.
