Review:

What would you prefer: a bike race or a car race?

Sometimes, it takes time to discover what truly brings us joy. Understanding our true calling requires patience, but once we do, we shouldn’t hesitate. We must pursue it wholeheartedly and do what makes us happy. Often, we sacrifice our dreams, considering what our parents might think. However, do we actually discuss our decisions with them? Do we truly know what they want for us? This is the essence of my book, “95 of 2023.” It tells a story about following one’s passion, friendship, and love.

“Journey to Rebond” by Krishna Mariyil takes readers on an exhilarating adventure filled with passion, friendship, and the pursuit of dreams. Set against the backdrop of racing, this captivating story explores the choices we make and the challenges we face when following our true calling.

The story follows the journey of Akash and Karan, two friends who share a dream of becoming professional racers and participating in the renowned Great Himalayan Rally. As they come closer to realizing their dreams, a crisis arises that forces Akash to make a difficult decision. He must choose between a stable, professional career that his family and girlfriend desire or the adrenaline-fueled, life-threatening existence of a racer, that he yearns for. Whom and what will he choose?  This pivotal choice sets the stage for a compelling exploration of personal ambitions and the delicate balance between following our passions while also balancing family ties.

With an engrossing plot that captures the racing atmosphere, Krishna weaves an intriguing narrative filled with love, friendship, and plenty of drama that seamlessly shifts between the past and present, allowing readers to delve into Akash’s thoughts and emotions as he grapples with his choices.

Krishna’s writing style is simple yet captivating, effectively capturing the beauty of relationships while drawing readers into the racing world and making them feel a part of the exhilarating journey. The storytelling is gripping and relatable as we delve into Akash’s life and his friendship with Karan. I appreciate the seamless progression of events. Akash’s experiences and the dynamics of his friendship with Karan resonate with readers, creating a strong emotional connection.

Numerous events unfold in Akash’s life, and his descriptions enable readers to connect with the situations on a deeper level. Whether it’s the unwavering support of Akash’s parents, Ramya’s constant encouragement, or Saniya’s probing questions and concerns, everything falls into place. These interactions add depth to the story, making it more than just a racing tale.

Krishna keeps it light, entertaining, and focused. As Akash prepares to reunite with Karan, the excitement intensifies. The final chapters are thrilling and packed with adventures as the friends meet once again. Yet again, it’s a race, and the team finds itself in a dilemma when tragedy strikes, leaving them with no alternative. Amidst competitors resorting to dirty tactics and sponsors threatening to withdraw, the team has only one option: Akash. Will the duo work their magic once more? Will their relationship return to normal? Can they emerge victorious in the race?

The racing element of the story adds a thrilling dimension to the plot. Krishna Mariyil expertly brings the racing field to life, capturing its intensity, exhilaration, and even the cutthroat nature of the competition as the duo is on the field. The story strikes a balance between He strikes a perfect balance between the emotional drama family support, and the thrill of the race, just like a movie that unfolds within the characters’ lives. With each event, the story becomes more exciting, leaving readers eager to know what happens next.

The characters are well-crafted and developed. Each of them plays a significant role in shaping the story and adding their own touch of magic. I particularly enjoyed Anushka’s character and how she takes care of the team while helping Karan realize his mistakes. That part resonated with me. The dynamics between the characters are finely crafted, adding layers of depth and complexity to the overall story.

While the book offers an enjoyable reading experience, one aspect that could have enhanced the story further is the introduction of more unexpected twists and turns. The narrative, at times, becomes somewhat predictable, and additional surprises could have added an extra layer of intrigue and excitement. It’s a predictable read, but the satisfying climax makes up for it.

In all, “Journey to Rebond” is a heartfelt and captivating novel that embraces the themes of passion, friendship, and the pursuit of dreams. Krishna Mariyil’s storytelling prowess and ability to create relatable characters shine throughout the book. Despite its predictability, the story remains engaging and leaves readers with a sense of fulfilment. If you’re seeking a lighthearted read with a racing backdrop, “Journey to Rebond” is definitely worth exploring.
