📚 Do you believe that a trip with friends can solve countless problems? 

I recently had the incredible opportunity to attend the book launch event of “One Night Only” by Saumyaa Vohra with my girlfriends, and it turned out to be an absolute blast. During our time together, we had the pleasure of meeting Saumyaa herself and engaging in delightful discussions about her writing journey. By the end of our conversation, we couldn’t help but express to her, “We’ve just lived through a similar story,” which made me more excited to dive into her book.

Book 102 of 2023, is a captivating tale that serves as a refreshing escape. As the girls set off for Goa, it reminds me of the spirit of “Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara” as I delved into this book.  They address old wounds, have fun, engage in fights, and embrace the spirit of Goa while enjoying their drinks.

“One Night Only” by Saumyaa Vohra is a captivating and refreshing novel that explores the themes of friendship, love, romance, and the power of female bonds. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Goa, this book takes readers on a thrilling journey filled with love, laughter, and unexpected twists.

The story revolves around four best friends: Rubani, Sairaa, Natasha, and Faiza. When Rubani goes through a painful breakup, she turns to her girlfriends for support.  In an effort to lift Rubani’s spirits, the group decides to embark on a long-awaited girls’ trip to Goa. Little do they know that this adventure will change their lives forever as they explore the beautiful coastal town, each character opens up and shares their secrets, leading to transformative experiences and newfound understanding.

The plot of “One Night Only” is filled with surprises and unexpected turns. As the friends share their stories and secrets, readers are constantly kept on their toes, eagerly anticipating the next revelation. Saumyaa expertly weaves together the narratives of these four dynamic women, allowing readers to delve into themes of love, romance, self-discovery, and the complexities of human relationships. The book is a raw, honest, and witty read that will undoubtedly make you yearn for a trip with your own group of girlfriends.

Saumyaa Vohra’s writing style is engaging and immersive. The vivid descriptions of Goa add another layer of richness to the narrative. Readers will feel transported to the sun-soaked beaches, bustling markets, and lively nightlife of the Goan backdrop. The author’s attention to detail allows readers to fully immerse themselves in the story, enhancing the reading experience. It’s a fast-paced narrative filled with adventures, drama, and entertainment.

One of the strengths of “One Night Only” lies in its well-developed characters. Each friend brings a unique perspective and personality to the group dynamic, allowing readers to see themselves reflected in various aspects of the story. Rubani and Sairaa’s characters are particularly interesting.

Saumyaa beautifully portrays the unconditional support and camaraderie between the four friends, highlighting the importance of having a strong support system. Through their interactions and conversations, the author emphasizes the power of friendship in overcoming obstacles and finding strength in unity. With lots of drama peppered with humour, making the interactions between the friends feel natural and relatable. Furthermore, the book explores the idea of embracing one’s true self without fear of judgment. It encourages readers to reflect on their own lives and consider how they can live authentically and without pretense. Saumyaa Vohra’s storytelling encourages self-reflection, making “One Night Only” not just an entertaining read, but also a thought-provoking one.

As the story progresses, unexpected twists and turns keep the reader engaged, leading to a satisfying and well-executed climax. The book’s conclusion leaves a lasting impact as the story explores how we often evade the truth and how our initial judgments of others can change once we sit down and engage in heartfelt conversations. Similar situations and moments of laughter and love unfold within the book, resonating with the readers. The satisfying and concise climax brings the book to a fulfilling close. 

“One Night Only” is akin to a Bollywood movie, with an engaging plot, intriguing storyline, and strong, bold characters. As the trip concluded, I couldn’t help but feel a tinge of sadness, yearning to learn more about the journeys that awaited these characters. While each story within the book excited me, the final chapter was truly mind-blowing. It caught me off guard and made me ponder how someone who enters our lives for a brief period can dramatically alter our perspective.

In conclusion, “One Night Only” by Saumyaa Vohra is a delightful and engaging novel that celebrates the power of friendship. It’s a must-read for anyone seeking an entertaining and heartfelt story. Saumyaa’s talent for storytelling shines through, leaving readers eagerly anticipating her future works.  She skillfully balances moments of humour, drama, and emotional depth, creating a well-rounded and enjoyable reading experience.
